Palliser Emerging Technologies
Currently Palliser Regional Schools is exploring and demo'ing a number of exploring technologies at various sites. If you are interested in learning more about these emerging technologies, please contact Palliser's Technology Integration Coordinator for more information or to assist you in implementing them into your classrooms.
Some of these include:
Moodle:
(CMS: Content Management System). This is an online 'content management sytem'. Moodle is a great way to organize, store and present your digitized course content online. Find out more about moodle at moodle.org. Join this online community and also take a 'course on how to use moodle' from the Palliser moodle site.
Podcasting:
Palliser currently supports a number of podcasting tools and softwares that will enable you to start creating and listening to your own podcasts. What is a podcast? Use tools such as Audacity and GCast.com to create and publish your very own classcast or school cast within minutes. Epearl:
This is an online digitial portofolio system that has been developed and shared by concordia University. Epearl compliments and supports Palliser Regional Schools assessment philosophies and practices very well. Palliser's Epearl site is located here
Video Conferencing:
See Palliser's video conferencing section for resources, project ideas and contacts. VC is a quickly taking it's place within Alberta as a very powerful means to connect classrooms, create engaging content and bring the world into your classroom.
