Learning Services
Learning Services, comprising AISI, Curriculum, Family School Liaison and Student Services, offers an improved opportunity to support student learning %u2013 the heart of Palliser%u2019s Vision Statement. Our overall mandate is to ensure each student experiences learning success within a supportive and encouraging environment. Research informs us that the greatest influence on improving student learning is the teacher in the classroom. Consequently, the focus of our work is supporting teachers to design their classroom curricula and instructional strategies, based on ongoing formative assessment, to enable students to succeed at meeting established outcomes.
Our strategic vision in Learning Services is that members of the team, while having specific responsibilities, are working together to provide teachers an integrated support network. As each child%u2019s and student%u2019s learning needs are determined, the Learning Services team will provide access to the resources and supports needed. Areas of focus include assessment for learning, appropriate curriculum differentiation, as well as accommodation of learning styles, and access to assistive technology tools, all within a safe and caring environment.
For example, in preparation for the introduction of new curriculum, strategies to adapt big ideas and accommodate for the range of learners will be incorporated into our curriculum implementation workshops. The Learning Services team is working collaboratively to support teachers%u2019 capacity and expertise as we strive to develop our students%u2019 unique potential.
