Hot diggity dog!
30 Jul
Barons School will hold two fundraising lunches in Lethbridge this summer to raise money for much-needed playground equipment for the historic school.
Volunteers will be selling hot dogs at Sobeys Scenic Square at 2920 26 Avenue South, Lethbridge, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 31 and Saturday, Aug. 21.
Fundraising for the playground began two years ago, and if all goes well with community support, the work may begin next spring.
Barons School was built in 1914. It was closed for more than a decade before being reopened in Spring 2008 as an alternative school serving teh area's Low German Mennonite population. The school now serves more than 120 boys and girls from preschool to Grade 10. Students receive instruction in English in a school environment that respects their Low German culture and religion.
The school is grateful to Sobeys Scenic Square for these two fundraising opportunities.
