Colleen Deitz was born in Three Hills, Alberta. She attended public schools in Three Hills and Calgary. After graduating from Grade 12, Colleen worked in the accounting department of Prudential Assurance Companies in Calgary, then took a semester of the Registered Industrial Accounting Program. Deciding that this was not the direction she wanted to pursue, Colleen started working as a claims adjuster for Safeco Insurance Company, and was sent on training courses to Seattle and Pennsylvania. In 1985 Colleen married Dale Deitz, and they reside on a farm near Milo. After taking five years off from working to help on the farm, Colleen started working as an adjuster again from her home. In 1993 she received her degree as Associate in the Insurance Institute of Canada. From 1995-97, she worked as the Municipal Administrator for the Village of Milo and is currently working part time at the skidoo dealership in Milo. Dale and Colleen have two sons Ryan and Travis, both attended the Milo School from K-9 and both went on to County Central High School in Vulcan, same as their father. Colleen has been very active in the community and the schools. She was very involved in the activities involving her children, especially baseball, gymnastics, hockey and curling. In March of 2002 Dale and Colleen lost their oldest son Ryan to leukemia at the age of 15. Since Ryan's passing the family has been very involved in supporting the Alberta Children's Hospital, Oncology Program. Funds raised in memory of Ryan have gone to purchasing the Bone Marrow Transplant Data Base for the Hospital.
