The last of this year's packages awaiting delivery

There was something special in the usual mix of mail and materials being delivered by Palliser’s courier this week.

Presents and grocery gift cards destined for eight Palliser families from schools from Coaldale to Calgary were delivered to school principals from volunteers with the Central Office Adopt-a-Family team.

With money raised through donations, casual Friday contributions, the sale of bottled water, juice and pop and the recycling of beverage containers from Palliser Centre in Lethbridge, volunteers were able to provide $100 grocery cards and gifts for every member of the family.

The families were nominated by their school principal based on hardship and need. The gifts were purchased and wrapped by volunteers in Central Office and sent to schools for discreet delivery by the principal.

This is the fifth year the Central Office team has offered assistance to families at Christmas time.

The staff of Palliser Regional Schools Central Office wish all of our students, staff and their families the very best for the Christmas season.

The office, like our schools, will be closed the weeks of Dec. 22 and Dec. 29. Central Office reopens at 8:15 p.m., Monday, Jan. 5.
