It may be summer break for most of us, but the team preparing for the Noble Central School modernization has not taken a vacation.

A committee of Palliser Central Office and school staff and representatives of the Board of Trustees, school council, municipality, Alberta Education, Alberta Infrastructure and Sahuri and Partners Architecture has been working toward a conceptual design for the project.

Members of the team have met three times in July alone as they work toward developing a conceptual design for the project which will create a barrier-free and modern learning environment for students of the school which offers early learning through Grade 12 programming.

The meetings included a tour by project engineers of the building’s mechanical, electrical and structural areas to familiarize themselves with the project and its challenges. The last major structural improvement was in the 1970s. The original building opened in 1949.

The next project committee meeting is scheduled for Aug. 19, where a conceptual design may be finalized and a project schedule may be presented.

Modernization of Noble Central was announced in January 2014.
