Palliser Regional Schools Board of Trustees announced Superintendent Kevin Gietz has commenced a paid leave, unassigned to duties, pending completion of the Organizational Review.
The Board has requested ministerial approval to appoint an acting superintendent in his absence.
The review was requested by Gietz in January and is being conducted by two independent consultants. It is expected the review will be completed by the end of October.
The Board of Trustees can’t comment further on this personnel matter.
Palliser Regional Schools held its annual organizational meeting and first board meeting of the school year Tuesday.
Update, August 31, 2016
Palliser Regional Schools received notification of the minister's approval of the appointment of Dr. Garry Andrews as acting superintendent, effective Aug. 25 to Oct. 31, 2016.
Dr. Andrews served briefly as acting superintendent in Spring 2016 and previously was Palliser superintendent from 2004 to 2007.
