Leadership comes in many forms, and the generosity shown by a community-minded business was recently recognized by Palliser Regional Schools.

Partner Derek Taylor was presented with a thank you gift at Central Office for the ongoing contributions made by KPMG Lethbridge. For a second year the company stepped forward as a major sponsor of Palliser’s student leadership celebrations.

In April more than 300 students in Grades 7-12 gathered at Heritage Christian Academy in Calgary for a Student Leadership Celebration in April. The event was an opportunity to showcase the leadership initiatives carried out by student leaders in their respective schools.

Among the positive changes carried out were a breakfast club, teacher of the month award and an anti-bullying campaign. Those projects were born out of action plans hatched during an earlier leadership conference in Lethbridge.

Discover U saw students gather in Lethbridge with the challenge to “Explore, Create and Achieve.” Students learned what it was to be a leader and brainstormed to find ways they could create positive change at their own school.

The first division-wide, student leadership conference of the new school year has been tentatively set for Nov. 10 in Lethbridge.
