Palliser Regional Schools is a public school jurisdiction located in southern Alberta. The geographical area stretches from just south of Lethbridge to the Bow River south of Calgary. Palliser Centre houses the Central Office Administration, Maintenance and Transportation and is located in the City of Lethbridge. In addition, a satellite Maintenance Shop has been set up in the Town of Vulcan. The division offers full public education services to approximately 8100 students ECS through Grade 12 in 51 schools, including 5 outreach programs, 2 alternative Low-German Mennonite programs, 11 alternative Faith based schools, 17 Hutterite colony schools, an on-line school, Palliser Beyond Borders, the Calgary Islamic School (Akram Jomaa Campus and Omar Bin Al-Khattab Campus), Palliser's newest school, Horizon Leadership Academy, and the Palliser Alternative Outreach School in Calgary. Ten of Palliser's alternative faith based schools are located in the City of Calgary. Palliser's approved operating budget for the 2017/18 school year is 95.45 M. The division prides itself on a history of excellence in education, strong community support, proactive planning and, most importantly, high student achievement.
Palliser Regional Schools invites applications for the position of part-time Certified Child Care Workers or Supervisors at Palliser Before and After School Program (PLAY Program) at Jennie Emery Elementary School commencing as soon as possible.
PLAY Program is an accredited Out of School Program situated in the town of Coaldale. The program serves approximately 100 children from kindergarten to age 12 with a range of abilities. The PLAY Program runs Monday - Friday 6:30 am - 8:30 am before school, Monday -Thursday 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm after school and 12:30 pm - 6:00 pm on Friday afternoons. On non-school days such as; PD Day and school breaks (Reading Break, Easter and Christmas Holiday break, and summer break) the program runs from 6:30 am - 6:00 pm Monday-Friday.
The PLAY Program is looking for individuals with the following qualities:
- compatible personality
- positive attitude
- high energy
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Planning for and implementing activities
- Supervise and participate with children during structured/unstructured activities
- Working with a team within the dynamics of group care
- Communication with children and parents on a daily basis
- Light cleaning duties
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and are expected to have relevant experience in a child care setting. Applicants need to be willing to work Monday to Friday before/after school and available on non-school days.
Required Education and Training:
Child Care Worker or Supervisor Certificate
CPR/First Aid Certificate
Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector (completed within the past 3 months)
