Palliser Regional Schools is pleased to announce Michelle Duimel has been appointed to the role of principal of Trinity Christian School, commencing April 6, 2015.

Michelle has been vice-principal of Trinity Christian School since the school joined Palliser in 2012. Trinity Christian currently serves more than 400 students from kindergarten through Grade 9 and has plans for a major renovation by September 2016.

Michelle earned her Master of Arts in Leadership degree at Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C. in June 2012, permanent professional teaching certification in 1993, and Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary in 1991 (elementary
education with a major in Math and Physical Education).

Michelle’s prior teaching experience includes eight years at Glenmore Christian Academy in 1991-1998 and 2003-2004. She is an accredited Licensed Worker with the Christian and Missionary Alliance and served as Children’s Pastor at Southview Alliance Church for 14 years. During that time the church grew from 450 people to 2,000, one service to five services and 50 children to more than 350. Michelle also led four family mission trips to Seine Bight, Belize.

Throughout her 23-year career as an administrator, teacher and children’s pastor, she has grown to love administration and leadership.

“I am energized by being with people, both adults and children,” she said. “I believe each of us is talented and it is our role as educators and administrators to help unlock each child and adult’s potential and assist them as they strive for excellence”.

Her goal is to lead a dynamic Christian school so that each child, teacher, staff member and parent is equipped and
encouraged to succeed.

Michelle was married in 1990 to Marc Duimel; they will be celebrating their 25th anniversary this summer. They have two teenage daughters; Jadeyn, 17, and Carlynn, 13.

In her spare time Michelle enjoys basketball, cycling, scrapbooking, mission trips (Belize, Mexico), travelling, reading and exploring nature.

She is looking forward to her continued participation with the Palliser Administrative Association and the Superintendent’s Leadership Team and welcomes the new and exciting challenges this role provides. She is thrilled for the opportunity to continue to work with dedicated Palliser staff committed to student learning and a collaborative culture.

The search for a new principal of Trinity Christian School began after the current principal, Stan Hielema, accepted the position of Associate Superintendent (Education Services) with Palliser Regional Schools; he will start in his new assignment on March 26, 2015.
