Students strike gold at skills

Cole Vavra Peacock won gold for a second straight year at the skills competition.

Four students from Palliser Regional Schools earned gold at the South West Regional Skills Canada Competition held at Lethbridge College Tuesday.

Congratulations to gold medallists: Reanne Bouvier, Kate Andrews High School, in the hairstyling (junior) category; Carson Young and Brayden  Lisecki, Kate Andrews High School, TV/Video Production; and Cole Vavra Peacock from Picture Butte High School in welding. This was the second year Cole won gold in the welding competition.

Also receiving a medal was Ethan Klassen of KAHS, who earned bronze in welding.

Rounding out the Palliser team at the South West skills competition were Jake Entz and Simon Wipf from Coalhurst High in TV/video production; Kyla Lamb from Coalhurst and Evan Weir from KAHS in photography; Christen Gross and Kendra Klasson from KAHS competed in fashion technology; and Wyatt Mihalicz from KAHS in cabinet making.
