Kris Van Wieren

Director of Learning, Inclusion and Diversity

Kris Van Weiren was appointed Director of Learning Services – Inclusion and Diversity in August 2025. She brings a wealth of experience in inclusive education and a strong commitment to fostering equitable, supportive learning environments for all students.

Kris is currently pursuing an Educational Doctorate in Senior Educational Leadership at the University of Calgary. She also holds a Master of Education in School Leadership and Administration from Gonzaga University, where her capstone research focused on assistive technology, an area that continues to inform her work in advancing inclusive instructional practices.

With over two decades of experience in both teaching and leadership roles, Kris has developed a proven track record in building collaborative teams, enhancing professional learning, and supporting diverse student populations. Kris has also held system and school-based roles as Vice Principal and Learning Support Teacher at Kate Andrews High School, as well as Inclusive Education Lead at multiple schools within the Lethbridge School Division. Most recently, she served as Principal at Carangay and Barons schools. 

In her new role, Kris continues to champion inclusive practices that support the success and wellbeing of all learners across the division.
