Students at two Coaldale schools were recognized by the Royal Canadian Legion General Stewart Branch in Lethbridge for their work in the Annual Literary and Poster Contests.

Jennie Emery Elementary student Tristyn Penner was recognized by Leith Teller, a poppy committee member, and Jacquie McLean, poppy chairman, who presented her with a cash prize and medal for her poster entry which depicts the iconic poppy.

At neighbouring R.I. Baker Middle School, the legion presented three awards in the junior poetry category. Winning first was Hope Adams; second went to Wesley Tews; and third to Isaac Hoogerdyke.

Congratulations to all four of these creative students!
