Congrats to Palliser's track and field stars

Glenmore Christian Academy's track athletes earned the team gold aggregate medal in the South Central Zone track meet June 5.

Several GCA athletes placed first in their events, while breaking school or zone records.

These Glenmore Christian athletes placed first in one or more of their events:

  • Emy Udoh: hurdles, long jump, triple jump
  • KC Nwadei: high jump (shown in photo)
  • Sean-Gerald Udeh: 400 metres
  • Daniel van der Merwe: triple jump
  • Derek Uzoh: high jump
  • Tyler Kiyonaga: 3000 metres
  • Steven Egege: hurdles, 100 metres

Those who broke school or zone records were:

  • Emy Udoh: hurdles
  • KC Nwadei: high jump
  • Perry Wulder: shot put
  • Tyler Kiyonaga: 3000 metres
  • Derek Uzoh: long jump, high jump. (Derek broke a 20 years standing zone high jump record with a jump of 1.95 metres. Congratulations!)

Lastly, the following athletes won individual aggregate medals:

  • Emy Udoh: Gold in Bantam Girls
  • KC Nwadei: Silver in Midget Girls
  • Daniel van der Merwe: Bronze in Midget Boys
  • Steven Egege: Silver in Juvenile Boys

Also at the zone event, Trinity Christian School finished sixth in the team rankings.

Congratulations to all who competed!


Congratulations to Aaron Hernandez, Kate Andrews High School, who won two gold and one bronze at the Alberta Schools' Athletics Association Track and Field Provincials in Calgary last week.

Hernandez set a record in the triple jump at 14.86 metres. His other gold medal came in the long jump. He earned bronze in the 100-metre dash.
