Congratulations to students, staff, families and alumni of Calgary Christian School, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year!

The school kicked off a year-long celebration Tuesday with special chapel services.

Calgary Christian School opened in 1963 as the first independent faith-based school in Calgary with 53 students in grades 1 through 4. By 1968, the founding members of the Calgary Society for Christian Education were able to congratulate the first graduating class of Grade 9 students. The schools joined Palliser Regional Schools as a faith-based alternative program in the public system in 2008-2009. Today, there are two campuses that are home to more than 840 students from an early learning program to Grade 12.

Other ceremonies that will be occurring throughout the year will include a fall fair, a cornerstone patio that will be built at the elementary school campus with personalized engraved bricks purchased by students and parents, an anniversary book that will feature past and current photos, a gala weekend May 2-4, alumni events, and photo opportunities.
