Palliser Regional Schools’ Associate Superintendent (Human Resources) Kevin Garinger has been named Director of Education of Horizon School Division, a rural jurisdiction which operates 41 schools in East Central Saskatchewan.
Garinger will begin his new role as the CEO on June 1, 2014.
He joined the senior administrative team of Palliser Regional Schools in 2007 and has had a direct hand in operations and management of virtually every aspect of the division, from technology to learning services, curriculum to professional development. Much of his time in Palliser has been spent leading our Human Resources department, where his efforts have directly impacted the high quality of services provided to Palliser students and the culture of excellence in the division, said Superintendent Kevin Gietz.
“While I congratulate Kevin on this exciting new professional opportunity, I recognize that his departure from Palliser Regional Schools leaves a tremendous void,” Gietz said in a memo distributed to Palliser staff late Thursday.
For Garinger, the move to Horizon is a homecoming. He served as a principal of one of the division’s schools in Strasbourg, Sask., for five years before joining the Palliser Regional Schools team.
With a very short timeline before Garinger takes on his new role, Gietz said Palliser will begin the process of advertising and recruiting a replacement as soon as possible.
Palliser Regional Schools serves about 7,600 students from early learning programs through Grade 12 at 48 schools across Lethbridge County, Vulcan County and the City of Calgary.
