Palliser School Division is proud to share that Dorothy Dalgliesh School Principal, Crystal McGregor, has received the Council for School Leadership (CSL) Distinguished Leadership Award, one of Alberta’s most prestigious honours for educational leaders.
This award recognizes principals, vice principals, and jurisdiction leaders whose leadership reflects Alberta’s Leadership Quality Standard. Crystal was selected for her exceptional work in inclusive education, instructional leadership, and building a positive, student-centred school culture.
Crystal’s leadership has consistently exemplified Palliser School Division’s vision, which is rooted in empathy, integrity, respect, trust, and responsibility. Through her dedication, she has helped transform Dorothy Dalgliesh School into a place where students feel seen, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. She works closely with families, specialists, and staff to ensure each child receives the personalized support they need to succeed.
Crystal has also championed professional learning initiatives such as Building Thinking Classrooms and Mathematical Mindsets, encouraging a culture of collaboration, critical thinking, and growth among both students and educators.
“Crystal exemplifies the kind of leadership that not only meets expectations, but inspires lasting, meaningful change,” said Audrey Kluin, Associate Superintendent of Human Resources. “Her deep connection with students, her support for staff, and her unwavering focus on student success make her truly deserving of this recognition.”
“Crystal is absolutely passionate about giving students with complex needs the very best learning opportunities,” said Julie Milne, a teacher at Dorothy Dalgliesh School who nominated her. “She leads with compassion, courage, and a deep belief in every student’s potential. Her leadership has made a real difference in the lives of our most vulnerable learners.”
Crystal was formally recognized on June 6, 2025, at the CSL Distinguished Leadership Award Ceremony in Calgary, where she was honoured alongside other outstanding leaders from across the province.
This recognition celebrates Crystal’s individual excellence and Palliser’s collective commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environments where students thrive and values come to life.
