Recognized by Alberta Education in 2013, Sharleen was one of 20 recipients of the Excellence in Teaching Awards, which goes to those who have distinguished themselves in their dedication and commitment to teaching and learning.

Sharleen joined The Palliser School Division in 2016 as the Vice-Principal of Coalhurst Elementary School. Prior to this assignment, she taught with the Lethbridge Public Division since 1991 in Outreach, Elementary, Middle School and finally, as a Vice-Principal at Park Meadows Elementary School.

“I value environments where sustainable relationships, those which are built on trust, and provide an opportunity for all students to grow and thrive, are central to the school community,” states Sharleen. “To develop such relationships, it is essential to empower staff to be leaders within that community in order to promote collaboration, exemplary instructional practice, excellence in student learning, and a safe and caring learning environment.”

She believes all students can and will learn when they are given the opportunity to grow and thrive in an environment where there are high expectations and unconditional acceptance.

Sharleen and her husband, Craig, Communication Specialist with Palliser Regional Schools, have been married for more than 30 years and have a son, Brenden.

Congratulations Sharleen!
