New principal named for Champion School

Palliser Regional Schools is pleased to announce that Nathan Sillito has been appointed to the role of Principal of Champion School, commencing July 1, 2020.

Nathan earned a Bachelor of Education as an Elementary Generalist from the University of Alberta in 2001.  He later obtained a Master of Education degree, with a focus on Assessment for Learning and Teacher Education, in 2013, from the University of Lethbridge.

He began his teaching career in 2001 as an elementary classroom teacher in Two Hills, AB.  He taught Grades two through four and was assigned as a Vice-Principal for the St. Paul Regional School Division before moving to The Palliser School Division in 2006.  

Since joining The Palliser School Division in 2006, Nathan taught Grade three at Vulcan Prairieview Elementary School.  He later accepted the Vice-Principal assignment until June 2012, whereupon he transitioned to the principalship of Barons and Carmangay Schools from 2012 to 2015.  Since August 2015, Nathan has been the Co-ordinating Principal of Early Learning for the District, working primarily with PUF students and Division Schools.

Dedicated to life-long learning, Nathan is passionate about fostering a culture of high expectations for students, teachers and other staff and leads by example.

“I look forward to getting to know everyone in the Champion School community,” he says.  “I am also looking forward to working with staff and families to continue to make Champion School a great place to be.”

Nathan has been married to his wife Marlys for 28 years and they have five children. Nathan enjoys travelling with his family, reading, cycling, music and the outdoors.
