Palliser Regional Schools and the societies at Menno Simons Christian School and Heritage Christian Academy renewed their partnership, seven years after the original agreements between them were signed.

Both schools joined Palliser as faith-based alternative programs in the 2006-07 school year, having existed previously as private schools.

Palliser Board Chair Don Zech and Superintendent Kevin Gietz joined counterparts from the two societies at a signing ceremony in Calgary Monday, following a review of the master agreements between the respective boards.

Menno Simons Christian School Principal Byron Thiessen, Heritage Christian Academy Principal Ryan Brennan and Associate Superintendent (Education Services) Dale Backlin also attended.

The agreements recognize the important role of the Mennonite Educational Society of Calgary, at Menno Simons Christian School, and the Heritage Christian Education Society, at Heritage Christian Academy, in providing a Christian-infused educational program at the respective sites. The society determines the religious content of the program and provides the land and buildings for the school program.

Menno Simons serves about 200 students from kindergarten through Grade 9. Heritage Christian Academy serves about 600 students from kindergarten through Grade 12. Both schools are located in Calgary.
