Have a head for numbers and interested in supporting public education? Palliser Regional Schools is looking for two volunteers to serve on its Audit Committee as required under the recently-passed, provincial Education Act.

The legislation requires each school jurisdiction to appoint an Audit Committee of at least five members, including a member of the business community and a member of the adult learning community, neither of which can be trustees. While the position is voluntary in nature, an honorarium will be provided to external members of that committee. The members should be supporters of public education.

The Audit Committee will be established to: recommend external auditors to the Board of Trustees; review the annual financial statements and report to the Board; and attend to other matters as the Board may determine in the establishment of the audit committee.

Letters of interest, which should include the applicant’s experience in either business or adult learning, must be received at the Palliser Education Centre by no later than Oct. 11. Letters should be submitted to Palliser Regional Schools, attention Joanne Siljak, Corporate Services Coordinator, at 101, 3305 18 Avenue North, Lethbridge, AB., T1H 5S1 or emailed to joanne.siljak@pallisersd.ab.ca.
