Principal named for Noble Central School

Palliser Regional Schools is pleased to announce Kathy Oviatt-Petrunik has been appointed to the role of Principal of Noble Central School commencing the 2014-15 school year.

Noble Central School is located in the Village of Nobleford and serves approximately 230 students from kindergarten through Grade 12.

Kathy earned her Bachelor of Education degree in 1994 from the University of Lethbridge and her Masters of Education degree in 2008 from the University of Alberta with specialization in Educational Technologies.

She has a background in literacy, technology and assessment for learning and has worked to build structures and supports to facilitate the collaborative work of teachers in professional learning communities and response to intervention models. Kathy has a passion for teacher professional growth and instructional leadership in providing the best opportunities possible for student learning.

Kathy began her teaching career in Westwind School Division in 1995, and has taught at all grade levels. She spent two years as vice-principal of Raymond Elementary School before joining Palliser.

Her past work includes several initiatives such as the Emerge one-to-one laptop project and the Galileo Educational Network. She also served many years as a sessional instructor at the University of Lethbridge teaching Orff music pedagogy to pre-service teachers. Kathy has held several leadership positions including serving as Vice Principal at Noble Central School this past year.

Kathy is looking forward to her continued participation with the Administrators' Association and the Superintendent’s Leadership Team and welcomes the new and exciting challenges this new role provides. She is thrilled for the opportunity to continue to work with a dedicated staff that is committed to student learning and to support the collaborative culture and positive community of Noble Central School.
