Arrowwood students welcomed two special guests to their assembly March 4: Special Olympians Lee and Diane Heemskerk. Lee and Diane, who live in Arrowwood, have won countless medals in track and field, speed skating, and figure skating. They shared their Olympic successes over the years along with the gold and silver medals that they won in both summer and winter games. They are the only married couple in Canada to compete together in pairs figure skating in the Special Olympics. They shared an amazing message with our students about never giving up, always trying their best and that everyone has leadership potential.
