The Palliser School Division is pleased to announce that Philip Knafla has accepted the role of Principal at County Central High School, commencing August 26, 2024.
Philip brings a wealth of teaching and administrative experience into his new position with County Central High School. He is excited to continue his leadership journey with CCHS and the Vulcan community. In addition to his prior roles as a Principal and working at Division Office for Palliser, he has taught courses from Grade 1 Health through Math 31. Philip specializes in numeracy, having taught all Math classes from Grade 7 to Grade 12. His experience also includes numerous Science, CTS, CTF, Drama and French courses. He is passionate about creative learning activities, integrating technology, and High School Redesign. His consistent focus during his career has been fostering caring relationships with all stakeholders and developing robust student and staff mentorship programs.
Philip obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary in 1998; his Bachelor of Education, Middle Schools focus, from the University of British Columbia in 1999; and his Master of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University in Victoria in 2014.
Reflecting on his teaching philosophy, Philip shares, “I love working with kids – the trust that parents grant us to partner with them on their children’s educational journey is a responsibility we I commit to with joy, kindness, and care. Every day should be filled with laughter, hard work, inquisitive learning, collaborative conversations and community connections. I feel truly blessed by the opportunity to serve the staff, students, and community of Vulcan.”
Philip and his wife Tracy, who is an EA at Trinity Christian School, recently celebrated their 21st anniversary. Their two daughters have just graduated from Palliser’s faith-based schools in Calgary, and as a family they enjoy campfires, board games, road trips and Survivor.
