Palliser Regional Schools is grateful to RBC Royal Bank for a donation of $15,000 toward the second annual Palliser Student Leadership Conference, "Discover U: Explore. Create. Achieve."
The conference, led by students for students in Grades 7 through 12 across Palliser, will be held in Lethbridge Friday, Nov. 20.
The conference will feature keynote speaker, musician, author and entrepreneur David Usher, and students will have a choice to attend two of 10 breakout sessions on aspects of leadership. The goal is for students, working in teams with peers from their schools, to identify something they'd like to change, create an action plan and measure their success before sharing their projects with their peers at another division-wide gathering in April.
"It's tremendous to have the support of RBC for this day as we invest in the next generation of leaders," said Palliser Superintendent Kevin Gietz. "Our students are creative, insightful and innovative and I can't wait to see how this day helps them unleash their potential to improve our schools and communities, globally or locally."
John Arnold, vice-president of Agriculture and Commercial Financial Services, Alberta Southwest, and Jackie Lovell, senior account manager, presented the donation Tuesday to Palliser's Associate Superintendent Education Services Pat Rivard.
