Palliser Regional Schools in Calgary and Brant will remain closed Tuesday, June 25, and Wednesday, June 26.
These schools will reopen at their regular start time until noon, Thursday, June 27. Students and parents are encouraged to use the morning to collect their belongings, return books or other supplies and bring an end to the 2012-2013 school year as best they can.
High schools will be open throughout the week for those students who choose to write their diploma exams at scheduled dates and times. Students do have the choice of taking an exemption on their diploma exams and do not need to fill out any paperwork to make this happen. A third option is to write exams at the next scheduled writing in August. The schedule is available on Alberta Education’s website at http://education.alberta.ca/media/6446740/03-dip-gib-2012-13_schedules%20significant%20dates%202013-05-23.pdf
All other final exams and the Grade 9 Provincial Achievement Tests have been cancelled for Palliser students in Calgary and Brant.
The schools affected by this announcement are:
- Brant Christian School
- Calgary Christian School, elementary and secondary classes
- Glenmore Christian Academy
- Heritage Christian Academy
- Master’s Academy and College
- Menno Simons Christian School
- Trinity Christian School
Palliser is fortunate to report that our schools in these areas were not damaged by the flooding. The decision to close these schools reflects our appreciation for the fact that many of our families have been deeply affected by the flooding and our students are dealing with considerable stress and anxiety related to the week’s events.
Our thoughts go out to all who are coping with the flooding and aftermath, including the first responders in Calgary, High River and all parts of our division.
