"A Public Education" TV show visits County Central High

A new episode of “A Public Education” will feature County Central High School teacher Cori Thompson and her work to help students develop leadership skills.

The show, sponsored by Palliser ATA Local 19 and others, will be shown at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, on CTV 2, and will air daily through February on Shaw Television Lethbridge.

This episode’s host is Mitch Maxwell, an Education and Kinesiology student at the University of Lethbridge and a member of the Pronghorns Hockey team. He will share his journey to becoming a teacher.

Also on the show:

  • An effective approach to teaching math through the building of two canoes at Victoria Park High School;
  • Billy Woitte, a First Nations, Metis, Inuit (FNMI) worker at St. Francis Junior High, discusses her work to help raise awareness of First Nations culture;
  • And staff at Fleetwood-Bawden converted two storage rooms into multi-sensory areas to help young students cope with the hectic pace of school life.
