APPOINTMENT OF AREA DIRECTOR – LETHBRIDGE REGION

We are pleased to announce that Jackie Kark has accepted the role of Area Director ~ Lethbridge Area commencing August 22, 2022.

Jackie received her undergraduate degree from the University of Alberta in 2002, earning a Bachelor of Education.  In July 2009, Jackie obtained a Master of Education (in Secondary Education) with a focus on creating more inclusive secondary science classrooms.  She received this degree also from the University of Alberta.  During Jackie’s Masters program, the final project was entitled ‘Science Learning for All Students,’ which focused on differentiating to allow diverse learners more access to academic content areas.

Lastly, Jackie received an Instructional Leadership Certificate during the summer of 2017 from the University of Calgary.

Since September 2016 to present, Jackie has served as a long-standing Principal with the Livingstone Range School Division.  She accepted the Principal assignment at Granum School until June 2019, then later accepted the Principal assignment with Willow Creek Composite High School in September of 2019 until today.

Jackie grew up in Northern Alberta and still loves to spend summers there camping, boating and paddle boarding with her family.  Her husband, Dave, is from Lethbridge and they have three playful dogs.

"I am excited to join the Palliser team and look forward to building connections with staff and school communities," notes Jackie.  “A leader is nothing without a team.  I firmly believe that every student can, and wants, to learn and to be successful, as long as the learning is meaningful and the relationship is strong.  We must also explore what success means for our individual students – our idea of success and their idea of success are often not in line and this must be brought to the forefront of our planning for individual students.”

As a life-long learner, Jackie has a strong passion for student centered learning, inclusivity, collaboration, and for academic success with all learners.  These are all qualities that she will bring to support the needs of the Palliser School Division moving forward.

Congratulations Jackie!
