The Palliser Regional Schools Board of Trustees passed a motion Tuesday to immediately offer a contract for Superintendent of Schools to ‘Candidate A’ subject to approval by Alberta Education.
Under provisions in the School Act, the candidate of choice cannot be named nor any further details released regarding employment terms until approval is granted by Alberta Education.
The board hopes to have the successful candidate in place as quickly as possible, but a start date may be contingent on any contractural obligations the candidate might have to their current employer.
The candidate of choice was selected after a search by a recruiting firm and a series of interviews. Community stakeholders were also invited to provide feedback, both in person and online, as to key issues related to that search.
The board terminated the contract of former Superintendent Kevin Gietz in February. Dr. Garry Andrews is serving as Acting Superintendent.
