On Friday at about 3:10 p.m., as children in the PLAY program at Jennie Emery Elementary School were playing outside on the school grounds, an adult man came, parked in the back alley and addressed a child. Some of the children outside in the field with PLAY program supervisors thought he might be talking to them and were scared.

The staff ushered the children back inside the school and secured them in the gym. They shared vehicle information with the police who followed through and determined that there was no threat to the children.

At 4:10 p.m. the officer advised the PLAY program staff that no children were at any risk at any time during this event.

If you have questions about this event or PLAY procedures, please contact Principal Sherrie Nickel.

Thank you to the staff of the PLAY program and the school for their quick efforts to ensure the safety of the children.

The PLAY program is a before- and after-school care program which operates at Jennie Emery Elementary School.
