The spirit for debate is strong at Coalhurst High School.  Four eloquent students from CHS participated in the Oddfellows / Rebekahs International Cooperation Speech Competition in Lethbridge in December.   Grade 11 students Asia M,

Ava L, and Macy D in Grade 11 along with Grade 10 student Josiah S delivered impassioned arguments on varied topics such as the need for international cooperation in the 21st Century, global pandemic mitigation, supra-nationalism, fighting climate change through international collaboration, and the importance of balancing globalization with protectionism.

Asia was a co-winner of the competition and will go on to compete in the International Cooperation Speech Competition which includes an expense-paid trip to the United Nations in New York, then on to Pennsylvania, Boston, Washington, and Niagara Falls this summer! She is the first-ever CHS student to achieve this.

Congratulations to our students!
