Milo School celebrated Family Literacy Day Thursday, Jan. 30 with a "Book-nic," with families invited to bring a picnic lunch to school to share with students over the lunch break. In addition to lunch, the group enjoyed a Robert Munsch story together over the projector, then guest readers spread out around the gym to read their favourite children's stories.

Palliser Regional Schools' Central Office staff were among the guests, as was Donna Milan from the Rainbow Literacy Society of Vulcan, who helped organize the event. She supplied books to give away, cookies, juice and an excellent presentation on the importance of lifelong learning and literacy.

The event fits with Palliser's theme for the year: "Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader."

Great job, Milo School!
