Information for parents about fentanyl

In response to the more than 270 Albertans who died from the drug fentanyl in 2015, Alberta Health has compiled information and advice for parents and teachers.

While this painkiller can be used safely when prescribed by a health professional and used as directed, it is made and sold illegally and its use can be deadly.

You can help your children avoid this dangerous drug by having a conversation about the risks, supporting them to be involved in activities at school and in the community and by encouraging healthy decision-making.

For all of Alberta Health's tips, please read their four-page fentanyl information sheet, complete with more than a page of online resources.
