May is Mental Health Month, and Palliser Regional Schools’ students and staff embraced the theme with abundance this week.
Teachers, for example, spent Monday, May 1 in a day of professional development with breakout sessions focused on wellness, including self-regulation, personal resilience, and active classrooms for active minds.
On Wednesday, May 3, many of our students and staff participated in Hats On! For Mental Health Day, donning hats of all kinds to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health.
At Calgary Islamic School Omar Bin Al-Khattab campus, Grade 2 teacher Rima Alkadry encouraged students to “Get Loud for Mental Health” for the entire month. In one activity, they created posters with messages about good mental health. Alkadry said it was quite a challenge to select the top posters, which depict the link between healthy bodies, healthy minds and happy lives.
Thanks to everyone for leading and participating in these learning opportunities to encourage good mental health.
