The Palliser School Divison is taking a measured approach to examine the Draft Kindergarten to Grade 6 Curriculum and our role in the validation process. Alberta Education has not made the request to pilot the new Draft Curriculum and to date, the ministry has not highlighted a process or plans for the pilot projects. Presently, Palliser Administration has been reviewing the draft curriculum and will seek input from the divisions teaching staff and administration following the break. Given the timing of this release and the workload our teaching staff have faced this year, the decision was made not to interrupt their break but instead to seek input upon their return to the schools. This engagement with staff and administration will take a critical look at all aspects of the curriculum and enable Palliser to provide meaningful feedback to Alberta Education. Any decisions on piloting all, none or part of the draft curriculum will be a collaborative decision that focuses on what is best for students.
