Congratulations to the students, staff and families at Calgary Christian School for today's second annual Marit Cup, a student-versus-staff hockey game in memory of a former student.

The event raises money for two causes dear to Calgary Christian Secondary alumnus Marit McKenzie, who died suddenly in January 2013 after suffering a pulmonary embolism. One is the David Foster Foundation, an organization that supports the families of children who are undergoing organ transplants. The other is an arts scholarship fund. Marit was a gifted artist.

A special guest at Wednesday's event was Darren Loutit, aged 10, whose family was helped by the David Foster Foundation when he underwent a liver transplant.

The student squad won the game by a score of 7-5, but it sure sounds like there were winners all around!
